Former Holland international striker Kees Kist is backing Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen for a move to the Premier League.

The Belgium international has been a long-term target for Arsenal, while Liverpool are also being linked due to his friendship with Luis Suarez.

Kist declared: "He is without doubt the leader of Ajax, exudes calm and organizes things.

"Johan really is a step above everything here. It would not hurt him to go to England or Spain."
