Liverpool are making a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish.

The Mirror says Liverpool have spoken to cash strapped Aston Villa over midfielder Grealish but Tottenham remain the favourites to sign the 22-year-old.

The original asking price of £40million has been drastically reduced to half that because Villa boss Steve Bruce has been told he can't even bring in loan players until a significant sale of one of his stars.

And it's local boy Grealish who was outstanding in the club's failed attempt to win promotion to the Premier League who offers Bruce the best hope of being able to bring in new blood.

Spurs are only prepared to offer £15m and Villa were hoping that Liverpool's interest in the former England Under 21 star would spark a bidding war.
