Liverpool have come to an agreement with Newcastle United for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Reports suggest that the Reds have agreed to pay the Magpies £25million for the Dutch attacking midfielder.

Sky Sports understands that Wijnaldum will travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical with the Reds before completing his transfer before the weekend.

Liverpool are confident that a deal will be finalised in time to see the 30-time Holland international join the squad for their pre-season tour of the USA.

In a slightly contrary report, the Liverpool Echo believes Wijnaldum could undergo his medical in the US with an agreement on personal terms basically a lay down misere.

25-year-old Wijnaldum joined the Toon from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5m last summer but his 11 goals and five assists in his debut Premier League season could not keep the north east club from relegation.
