Liverpool and Celtic to meet in Dublin friendly

Liverpool and Celtic have agreed to play a friendly at Dublin's Aviva Stadium in August.

The Hoops have set up the meeting but the Reds are all for the occasion which will be the first time the two sides have met since the Anfield club won 5-1 in the USA in 2004.

"We last played Celtic almost a decade ago so we are thrilled to get this event in our pre-season calendar," said Liverpool's chief commercial officer Billy Hogan.

"Both at Liverpool and Celtic we are fortunate to have two of the most passionate fan bases in the world and this fixture is a chance to bring them together once again."

The match will take place on Saturday, August 10 and kicks off at 5:30pm with tickets to go on sale later on June.
