Liverpool agree historic Indian sponsorship

Liverpool have agreed a three-year partnership with Xolo, their first regional sponsorship deal in India, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. Xolo will become the Reds official partner in the smart mobile devices category, with exclusive Liverpool-related merchandise content created for users of its phones and tablets.

It will also launch events in tandem with the official Liverpool supporters' club, and will provide opportunities for fans and clients to visit Anfield to watch the team's home games.

The deal was announced at a press conference at Liverpool's Melwood training ground, with a video link connecting to Xolo officials in India.

"We have millions of fans in India and we are committed to bringing the club closer to them," said Liverpool FC chief commercial officer Billy Hogan. "Teaming up with Xolo and launching our very first international academy in Pune represents the start of our journey in India to make fans feel like their club is right on their doorstep."

Sunil Raina, the business head of Xolo, added: "Liverpool FC is one of the most popular clubs in the country, with an iconic legacy. We're thrilled to have this association with a club that is revered as it seeks to grow the popularity of the sport in India. Through this association with Liverpool FC we will seek to not only increase connect with the youth but also drive growth for football in India."

Liverpool will open the LFC International Football Academy for young players in Pune later this year in partnership with I League 2nd Division side DSK Shivajians.
