Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers again had Sporting Lisbon fullback Marcos Rojo scouted on the weekend.
Rodgers had scouts posted to see the Argie in action as Sporting defeated Vitória Guimarães 1-0.
Rojo, 23, is rated in the €30 million class by Sporting and also has Napoli, AC Milan and Manchester United following him this season.
Rodgers is in the market for a new left-back after failing to be convinced by on-loan Valencia defender Aly Cissokho this term.
