Liverpool ace Torres: Spanish Liga needs to change to compete with England
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Sun, 10/11/2009 - 10:48
Liverpool ace Fernando Torres has fired a warning at the Spanish Liga over their battle with the Premiership for football's global audience.
“La Liga is already lagging behind in not playing matches at 3pm,” said the Liverpool striker. “The Premier League has the best media profile in the world. Part of that success is down to the times of the matches, which means they can be watched all around the world.”
Matches involving Real Madrid or Barcelona often kick off at 10pm Spanish time — 4am in Beijing.

Keep quiet Torres. La Liga doesn't have to have the biggest audience to be the best. No matter what time it is, if you want to watch the most attractive football then La Liga is the league to watch. Most of the top players choose La Liga and that's why it will continue to be the best, by some distance.
