Liverpool ace Suarez "loved maths and could've been top accountant"

Liverpool star Luis Suarez loves his mathematics and would've been a top accountant if not for football.

That's the revelation from the man who discovered him, Wilson Pirez, as a nine-year-old in Uruguay.

"I always remember that Luis loved maths," Pirez told the Sunday Mirror. "He never complained about homework when it was maths because he enjoyed it.

"It would have been a crime if he had grown up to be anything other than a professional football player but, if he hadn't taken that path, I think he could have been a very successful accountant.

"But what really changed Luis was when he met Sofia and she must take a lot of credit for his career and where he is now. You could see he was in love. People think that Luis left for Europe because of his football career, but it was for Sofia.

"She moved to Europe with her family and he could not bare to be apart from her. From the day she left, he picked his game up so he could get that European move. He was not thinking about fame or money, just his one true love.

"If you want to see the real Luis then you have to see him around Sofia and his children. I promise you will not see a kinder or more gentle man in your life."
