Liverpool's Luis Suarez has been named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year for the 2013/14 season.
The Uruguay international was crowned at the PFA awards night on Sunday for a season which saw him score 30 goals (with two matches remaining) and shoot the Reds to the top of the Premier League table.
Suarez, who just over 12 months ago had been suspended for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, was delighted to have been named the player of the year ahead of Blues winger Eden Hazard and Manchester City star Yaya Toure.
"The Premier League is full of really great players and so it is a great honour when these players recognise your work on the pitch," said Suarez.
"I always try my best for the team and it is nice to get awards but really this is for my team-mates and the staff at Liverpool because without their help I wouldn't have this prize."
Suarez, who missed the first five matches due to suspension, is the first Liverpool player to win the award since Steven Gerrard in 2006.
