Liverpool ace Suarez grateful to everyone who supported him during race controversy

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez says he'll never forget those who supported him during his race storm.

Suarez is no fool and knows that, while he is resolute that he did nothing wrong, the rest of football is less than sympathetic.

He said: "During all the time I was forced to stop playing I have received support from all around the world.

"That was very important and my family and I suffered so much. I am used to being on the pitch — not watching from the stands.

"That was the worst thing for me. I wanted to help my companions in key moments of the season, so that was hard to take as a professional.

"But the club and my team-mates helped me through all these hard moments. For me, that was more important than scoring 10 or 15 goals.

"Never have I suffered so much as over all this. But now I prefer to focus on my work and to carry out the coach's orders. Liverpool have good chances of success in several competitions and now I am able to play again.

"Some positives have emerged from this sad experience but now my only desire is for my name to appear in newspapers because of my goals."
