Liverpool striker Luis Suarez hopes to transform his global profile at this month's World Cup.
Suarez knows he's regarded as a "bad boy" due to his past problems at Anfield and Ajax - but wants that to change.
"On the field sometimes passion overwhelms you and you do things you regret afterwards and at the same time you have the chance to learn from these things," he told Sports Illustrated.
"There is a word in Uruguay - garra - which means grit and determination. It defines me in the sense that I will fight for every ball.
"I want to win every game and I get upset when I lose but I think I've been a role model since last summer. I have been professional and have this desire to forge ahead and play well, regardless of what is said about me.
"Players are always exposed to risk. Every footballer can be on the edge, at the limit, be the bad guy - and sometimes I am one of those."
