Liverpool ace Sadio Mane on brink of Fowler's derby record

Liverpool ace Sadio Mane is on the brink of a new Anfield record ahead of Sudnay's derby against Everton.

After his stoppage time winner at Goodison in December, followed by the opener at Anfield in April, the Senegalese star could become the first player EVER – from either side - to score in their opening three Merseyside derbies.

Indeed, not since Robbie Fowler in 1996 has a Liverpool player scored in three consecutive games against the Blues, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A Mane goal would also see him emulate his manager, Jurgen Klopp, who became the first Liverpool boss in history to win his first three fixtures against Everton.

Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino have scored 13 goals between them in the last three games - and 22 in the last seven.

When all four are on the pitch at the same time the quartet average a goal every 23 minutes.
