Sadio Mane admits he's been desperate to make up for lost time after missing last season's run-in for Liverpool.

Twelve months ago, though, the Senegalese missed the closing stages of Liverpool's battle for Champions League qualification after being sidelined for the final eight games of the campaign with a knee injury.

“Honestly, it was not easy for me to watch my team-mates when I was out injured," he said.

“It's part of football, though. You have to deal with it. It wasn't an easy moment for me, but as a footballer I just had to focus on the recovery.

“I always worked hard and tried come back stronger than before.

“Now I'm looking forward to helping the team in the last games of the season. Hopefully I can help the team do better and better."

On the Champions League, Mane added: “Can we win it? Everything is possible. With the quality that we have in our squad, anything is possible."
