Liverpool ace Gerrard: England stage set for Sturridge

Liverpool's England captain Steven Gerrard is convinced the stage is set for teammate Danny Sturridge. The Reds striker is expected to start against Montenegro on Friday.

"I had seen signs and potential at Manchester City and Chelsea [in Sturridge] but to work with him daily and the form he is in at the moment [at Liverpool], the stage is set for him to produce at this level. I am sure he is going to put in many top performances and get tons of goals as that is how good he is," said Gerrard.

"It is a huge boost for us to have Rooney and Sturridge available, they are going to be key players in unlocking the defence.

"If you have Wayne fit and available on good form and smiling, there is every chance you are going to get two top performances and usually if he is in that form then the team he is playing for, whether it be United or England, don't lose many matches."
