Livermore grateful to Tottenham pal Parker for guidance

Tottenham youngster Jake Livermore says he benefited from playing with senior teammate Scott Parker this season.

Parker's arrival put more pressure on central midfield places with Luka Modric and Sandro also excelling again, so it's full credit to Livermore that he made 38 appearances in all competitions.

"Obviously Scott coming here added competition," Livermore told the Spurs website. "However, I think it's made me a better player, staying here, learning from him and playing alongside him.

"He's taught me all about the timing of closing down, the timing of pressing and when to sit off and get into a shape.

"They're little things you pick up on, little things that perhaps you can't put your finger on and explain, but training with him and all the other players as well, day-in day-out, is the best education possible."
