Lita to become Reading's best paid

Reading are willing to make Leroy Lita the club's highest paid player to keep him from Bolton Wanderers.

The England Under-21 hero is being lined up by Reebok boss Sammy Lee for a £5million move as a potential replacement for Arsenal target Nicolas Anelka.

But Reading are willing to make the 22-year-old striker, who has two years left on his current deal, their top earner on £20,000-a-week to secure his future at the Madejski Stadium.

Director of football Nick Hammond said: "Trying to keep our best players is top of the priority list."
