Italy coach Marcello Lippi was sorry to learn of Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli's clash with racists on the weekend.

"I do not know what happened to Balotelli and obviously I am very sorry," said Lippi. "If I can give him advice, I'd tell him not to let his life be influenced by idiots.

"The world is full of them."
