Marcello Lippi says Sampdoria fans will play a big part in any success striker Antonio Cassano has on his return to Serie A this season.

Cassano has joined Samp on-loan from Real Madrid and former Italy coach Lippi says: "I hope he has a great year. And it was important for him to reach out to the fans and ask for their help. It was a beautiful gesture."
