Italy coach Marcello Lippi has cast doubt on Roma captain Francesco Totti making a return from international retirement.

Lippi said: "He's said that we have a relationship so beautiful, respect, that if ever I asked him to do so, he is available.

"Both Totti and (Alessandro) Nesta have taken this decision, they are professionals, the cost is so much, we also saw why, because they cannot handle the dual commitment and therefore we must respect this decision."
