Barcelona ace Lionel Messi is quietly brooding while on his summer break.

Diario Gol says Messi has been left unimpressed by Barca's market plans so far, stunned by their moves for Everton midfielder Gerard Deulofeu and Santos' Lucas Lima.

During new contract talks, Messi was assured by Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu that they would shop at the top end of the market this summer. But after learning of their move for Deulofeu and Lima, along with Guangzhou Evergrande's Paulinho, Messi has asked close friends: "Is this a joke?!"

Messi doesn't see any of the trio mentioned lifting the quality of the current Barca team. The Argentine is happy with their push for PSG ace Marco Verratti, but has expressed concern to confidants that the transfer promises made before he left for his break aren't being met.
