Gary Lineker admits Claudio Ranieri has been a surprise packet at Leicester City.
The former Foxes striker did not agree with the East Midlands club's appointment of the experienced Italian in the summer but acknowledges now that the former Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan boss has done a brilliant job in guiding them to top spot in the Premier League.
"I'm just glad he's lived up to my expectations! I'm so pleased I recommended him to the club!" Lineker quipped on BBC Radio Leicester.
"To be perfectly honest, in Claudio's career he has managed a lot of very big clubs over Europe, he is a solid manager. Not the youngest.
"But he's proving to be a very good appointment. Long may that continue. At the time I thought it was a little bit uninspiring but I've been proved wrong and am absolutely delighted."
