Lineker believes Hart's emergence is the biggest plus for England after a World Cup campaign which went downhill fast as soon as Robert Green made his gaffe against the USA.
Lineker said: "That's the great news after a pretty dismal summer - we have found a goalkeeper now.
"In hindsight, you would say maybe you should have played him in the World Cup. Alan Shearer was adamant throughout the tournament. It's easy to say that now.
"But he looks like he has bags of confidence, which is essential for a goalkeeper.
"The big test for a goalkeeper is always when they make an important mistake.
"But I suspect with Hart that he has the sort of temperament that he will just brush it off."
