Gary Lineker is hoping former Tottenham and England teammate Paul Gascoigne can find inspiration at Garforth Town.
In his column for the News of the World, Lineker wrote: "I have my fingers crossed that things go well for Paul Gascoigne if he takes over as manager of Garforth Town. I hope it gives him something to get up for, a reason to live.
"I've always thought that we have to find a way to save Gazza from himself. For that he needs an interest and that has to be in football.
"He has such an infectious enthusiasm, and can have such joie de vivre. You really hope he finds it again. But I know that just telling him what to do is not the solution.
"We've all done it - Terry Venables, Gary Mabbutt, myself - you'd sit him down and he would agree with everything you said. But you knew it was going in one ear and out the other.
"He is what he is. He is hyperactive, on the edge.
"The solution to his problems has to come from him."
