Lille fullback Mathieu Debuchy is desperate to make the move to Newcastle United.

France international Debuchy, a pal of Toon midfielder Yohan Cabaye, is rated at £6million.

The defender, 27, said: "I have not changed my mind about playing for Newcastle over the past six months.

"Lille haven't said they need to sell me but an offer could come in that suits all parties.

"It was a blow when I found that I could not leave."
