Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy has welcomed the loan signing of Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.

Cole made the move to the French champs in a blaze of publicity last week.

"I think it's a great buy for Lille. He has always shown the ability to be a great player, we're happy with him in the team.

"To tell the truth, I was very surprised by his signing. This means that we've become a club attractive to the big players," smiled Debuchy.
