Lierse confirm West Brom interest for Eiji Kawashima

Japan's World Cup goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima is being tracked by West Bromwich Albion.

The Daily Mail says West Brom are eyeing an end of season move for Kawashima.

The 28-year-old, who plays for Belgian club Lierse, helped his country make the last 16 in South Africa - conceding just two goals in four games.

He also impressed during the pre-World Cup friendly against England when he saved Frank Lampard's penalty but was eventually beaten by two own goals.

Lierse technical director Herman Helleputte said: "West Brom asked if we'll discuss a move for Kawashima. We said he can go if they make us a good offer."
