Liebheer Group swoop to rescue Southampton

Southampton's future has been secured.

The Daily Star says Southampton will today be saved from the scrap heap after being sold to a Swiss manufacturing company.

The Liebheer Group ended almost 14 weeks of uncertainty over the 2003 FA Cup finalists' future by completing a £12.5m buy-out of the debt-ridden club.

The family-run business, owned by brother and sister Willi and Isolde Liebheer, recorded a turnover of E8bn last year. Projects include making parts for the Airbus plane and they already have strong links with Southampton docks.
