The 23-year-old F1 sensation, who is preparing for the new season which starts in Australia in a month's time, went to school with Aston Villa and England winger Ashley Young.

"We were in the same year and used to play together in the school team," the McLaren driver told The Mirror.

"He was a great player and a nice guy. I really liked playing football. I started in midfield and would go in so hard sometimes I would risk breaking something.

"I did not deliberately foul people or go in studs showing, but would give it a real sliding tackle. My problem was I always kept my head down looking at the ball rather than where I was going and would end up running into another player.

"I always felt I did twice the work of any other player but for half the result."

The race ace also admitted he would love to see his team lift the FA Cup and tie up the Premier League again. "That would be just fantastic. And I'd love to be there when they do it," he added.
