Lewington delighted with Fulham team spirit

Fulham caretaker boss Ray Lewington is delighted with his players' response since the dismissal of Lawrie Sanchez last week.

Lewington said: "All the games look hard on paper but it is how hard you make it. We will be playing against a quality side away from home and our away form is not good.

"But we have got to win away from home sooner or later so we will go backed by the spirit we showed against Wigan.

"My one thing against Wigan was that we didn't feel sorry for ourselves after everything that had happened in the week. That's encouraging from my point of view.

"No heads dropped. The players were okay. Players today have all been in situations before when a manager gets the sack.

"They are not so cynical as people make out. I am sure there are cynical players but this bunch are quite a realistic bunch.

"They know that it is everyone's fault really, not just one person. But unfortunately, the manager always pays the price.

"The one thing they had to do was, whatever their feelings for the manager were, you've got to bury them because it is finished now and we move on. We have got a real tough task. The minds have got to be focused, which they were against Wigan.

"It was a real good performance full of energy, sometimes a little bit of quality missing, but it was spirited."
