Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has been warned he has little to spend next month.

The People says Villas-Boas has been told he cannot spend big in January as Tottenham owner Joe Lewis tightens the purse strings.

The Spurs boss hoped to sign Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho and Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente next month, while also eyeing Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian star Willian.

But AVB has been told to forget any significant spend in the mid-season window, despite Spurs being in a battle for Champions League qualification.
