Levy keen to clearout Spurs defensive outcasts

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is eager to oversee a defensive clearout.

The Times says Tottenham could sell as many as five defenders before the end of August.

Vlad Chiriches, Michael Dawson, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul and Kyle Naughton could all possibly leave White Hart Lane this month.

Kaboul is in talks with Lazio, while Naughton has seen a move to Swansea City stall over personal terms.

Assou-Ekotto spent last season on-loan with QPR and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already identified Danny Rose and new signing Ben Davies as his prime left-back options.
