Levein confident this is not the end of the road for Scotland

Under-fire Scotland manager Craig Levein is extremely confident that he can turn recent results around.

The Scottish team sit second bottom in Group A qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with just two points from three outings ahead of Tuesday night's vital clash with group leaders Belgium in Brussels.

If Scotland lose that encounter it would suggest that their World Cup dream, and Levein's reign in charge, could be over but the boss feels that the Scottish Football Association would be wrong to sack him just yet.

"I'm trying my damnedest to build some kind of foundation, to play a certain way. But we need a little break here and there to let everybody see it is progressing," he said.

"I'm extremely proud to have this job and I'll do the best I can.

"We have to do our best to retrieve this campaign and we have a game on Tuesday. There is a big sense of injustice and frustration within the group (after conceding two late goals to lose to Wales 2-1 on Friday night).

"The key thing now is putting on a performance in Belgium and trying to get a result."

He added: "I'm resilient if nothing else and 100 per cent believe we're heading in the right direction. Football is about results, I admit that. But (SFA chief) Stewart Regan is a strong man.

"I want to do this job, certainly into the World Cup in Brazil. I'd love more than anything to be the Scotland manager going there. I still believe we're capable."
