Lescott happy to play for new Man City deal

Jolen Lescott says his priority is to win a new deal with Manchester City.

Lescott, 30, has one year remaining on his current deal and is hoping to persuade City manager Manuel Pellegrini to hand him an extension.

He told mcfc.co.uk: "It is no different than any other time. During most of my career, pressure has been put on by myself but also by speculation about the club buying a centre-half.

"This year's no different - it may be a bit more pressure because it is the last year of my contract but I am using that as an exciting challenge.

"I have expressed that I want to stay and I want to be a part of the future but I know it's a business and if it is not to be, then I will walk away from the club with my head held high and no regrets. Nothing would please me more than to sign an extension, and if it happens, I will be here with my pen ready to sign."
