Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner is ready to cut his asking price for the club.
The Express & Star says the American owner is apparently prepared to accept around £150m after initially wanting £200m for the club.
Lerner wants out before the start of the season after eight years in charge and was initially looking at American investment.
It has hampered boss Paul Lambert's attempts in the transfer market with the manager looking for bargain buys as Lerner is reluctant to spend big.
