Aston Villa are introducing a strict new wage cap.

The Sunday Mirror says Villa owner Randy Lerner wants to get the average down to a more manageable £46,000-a-week, as strict new financial fair play rules loom.

Any new additions will have to accept lower salaries, similar to the £30k-a-week full-back Alan Hutton is on following his summer move from Tottenham.
