Leonardo defended his AC Milan team after their 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria.

Giampaolo Pazzini struck in injury-time to earn the points for Samp.

"The Scudetto was motivating rather than putting pressure on us. Today the team did well and these are games you can win or lose," said Leonardo.

"The side played good football, even after the red card, possibly even better in fact in terms of scoring opportunities.

"Of course there are regrets at losing with a 94th minute goal, but I can have no complaints at the performance.

"We were in the lead, had a red card and a penalty against us. In those circumstances, some sides can give up, but we kept pushing and threatened a victory."
