Lens president determined to keep hold of Man Utd target Varane

Lens president Gervais Martel is adamant he won't sell defender Raphael Varane.

Manchester United have been haggling over a price for the French teen for some weeks, while Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also expressed interest.

But Martel says: "I have great respect for the boy and his family. Now, he is wanted by the world's biggest clubs, but there will not be an auction!

"If Varane leaves the club, which has not been agreed by anyone here, even if it is plausible, it will be in discussion with the club and in the player's interests."

United's deal for Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones may see them pull out of talks for Varane.
