Lens fullback Vignal reveals Stoke offer

Lens fullback Gregory Vignal has confirmed the interest of Stoke City.

The 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Southampton, is out of contract this summer and could be set for a return to England.

"Porto and Stoke City have made enquiries," he told France Football. "I'm waiting to see concrete offers.

"The Portuguese club have followed me for several months now. They met my agent last winter.

"I'm not worrying about it. I'm on holiday, I'm waiting. You have to be patient. The market's not moving much."

Vignal progressed through the ranks at Montpellier before moving to Liverpool in 2000 and admits he would love a move back to the newly-promoted side.

"Montpellier remains my priority because it's my town," he continued. "I lived there for 10 years and I know everyone at the club.

"The coach, Rene Girard, has called Lens, but they have been focused on other players these past few days.

"The ball is in the Montpellier directors' court and they know that, with regards to the contract, there would not be any problem. I would leave free, there would not be a transfer fee to pay.

"The advantage also is that I can play in several places, as full-back, on the left wing and also a bit in midfield.

"For my transfer, I'm waiting for an answer from (vice-president) Laurent Nicollin."
