Lennon told Celtic players: This is your moment!

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed what he told his players prior to their Champions League clash with Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The Bhoys boss ignited one of the clubs greatest ever victories on the night of the 125th anniversary when they beat Barca 2-1 at Parkhead by telling the team it was their moment to shine.

Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt did the damage on the pitch but it was Lennon's speech, which touched on beating the world's best football team, which sparked the Celtic side to produce such an upset.

"I said to them before the game: "This is the present, this is your moment, they don't come very often and you've come a long way'," he said.

"After the Nou Camp where we defended valiantly and came away with nothing (2-1 loss), I told the players not to be gallant losers. To use that as motivation for this game.

"You know what's coming - you know you're going to concede possession, you know you're going be under pressure, so can you see it out this time?

"The public sees the finished article but they don't see the sacrifice players go through to get to that stage of their careers.

"So at the end I told them to make the most of it. I said to them they could go home after the game and have a little moment to themselves - and to enjoy that moment because they'd done something very special.

"We had to dig really deep against Barcelona.

"We felt we could've caused them problems but we knew the storm was going to come regardless of how much we were or weren't in the game.

"You know it's coming but we stood up to it brilliantly and the goalkeeper (Fraser Forster) was fantastic again.

"We got the breaks when we needed them and it was a wonderful night.

"It was a result that meant so much to so many people."
