Lennon not using Barcelona as excuse for Celtic failure

Neil Lennon says Celtic cannot use their hard-fought contest with Barcelona last week as an excuse for the dismal performance against Kilmarnock on the weekend.

The Hoops were beaten 2-0 at home by Killie to end a 57-year home undefeated streak against that particular club and making it just their second Parkhead loss in 38 Premier League games but Lennon says the last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Barcelona in the Champions League cannot be blamed.

"That's an easy way out. Our priority is the league," he said.

"We had quite a proud home record for over a year, which is gone now, so we've got to start that all over again.

"Domestically, we want to put as much distance between ourselves and everyone else as possible, as quickly as possible. We had a bad day and I'll make sure that doesn't happen again."
