Lennon hoping Celtic's Rogne can remain injury-free

Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes young defender Thomas Rogne can be a major asset to the team if he is able to stay fit.

The 21-year old Norwegian centre-back managed to start his first game of the season in Wednesday night's 4-1 League Cup quarter-final win over Hibernian after being sidelined since May with injury and Lennon has his fingers crossed that he can stay on the park as he brings some quality to the Hoops squad.

"I think he is a very talented player but he has had his injury problems," Lennon said.

"He missed most of the pre-season with a calf injury and he was a little bit slow in his rehab.

"But he went away with Norway and had a couple of Under-21 games and some of our scouts over there said he did well.

"He has also looked a bit more like it in training the last few weeks.

"We gave him an hour in a bounce (friendly) game against Rangers on Monday and he came through that okay.

"I like the cut of him, he has a good temperament and a good composure and you can see he has improved the physical side of his game as well.

"If he can stay injury-free he will be a huge bonus."
