Neil Lennon was delighted his Celtic players hit back with a solid performance following their 4-2 Old Firm loss at Rangers on Sunday.
The Hoops capitulated in the second half at Ibrox but were able to come out and record a 2-0 away win at Ross County in the third round of the League Cup.
Although it wasn't a brilliant showing, Lennon was happy that the players showed some character after a morale-draining loss to their SPL title rivals.
"I got the reaction I wanted from the players," Lennon said.
"The attitude was a lot better, the work rate off the ball was a lot better and our play in general was a lot better. It's a small step in the right direction.
"We're not getting carried away obviously but we're pleased with the clean sheet as well and on the counter attack we could have added to the scoreline.
"I can't ask for any more of the players. Obviously they were disappointed and we had to pick them up. We got the early goal and that settled us."
