Lennon full of praise for Celtic after going 20 points clear

Celtic last night went 20 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League table courtesy of a 2-0 home win over Dunfermline Athletic.

Charlie Mulgrew celebrated his first Scotland national team call-up with a great strike just after the half-hour mark for the opener before James Forrest added a second with 15 minutes remaining and although Lennon admits his Hoops were inefficient, he was full of praise for his players being able to produce a 16th-straight league win to create a huge lead over title rivals Rangers.

"We made it hard for ourselves and were wasteful," Lennon said.

"But I'm proud of them because of the huge gap they've opened up and I know I couldn't ask any more of them.

"Our two scorers have made a huge contribution to the championship challenge. James has lit up the season for us and Charlie has been a revelation."

He added: "It was a wonder goal (from Mulgrew) and we were in total control of things after that.

"But when the lead is only one goal the other side is given encouragement and there was a lack of a clinical finishing from us until James finally settled the match.

"But Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper are entitled to a day off after all they've done for us."
