Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez: I can't listen to my critics

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez admits he needs to be doing better.

His form had dipped this season after a promising start, leading to the sacked Craig Shakespeare to omit him from the manager's penultimate game in charge at Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old said: “People expect a lot from me. I'm the type of player that if I'm not good for one game, it's frustrating for them.

“I cannot listen to them. When you are at the top, people speak well about you, when you're no good, they speak badly. That's normal. You have to blank it out and just work. I know the quality is there. I know I'm getting there.

“It happened last season. But after February, we started to win and it got better.

“However, it's a team thing – and I know I'm part of that.

“I won the award because the team were creating chances and we were scoring every game. When the team gets wins and creates chances, I'll be there."
