Leicester, West Brom bid for Man Utd defender Smalling

Leicester City and West Brom are launching bids for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

The Daily Star says last week the Baggies rejected a £10m offer from the Foxes for Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans.

And that stalemate – with Albion adamant Evans, 29, is not for sale – means the Premier League rivals are now on collision course in pursuit of unsettled Manchester United centre-half Smalling.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis, desperate to strengthen at the back, had already earmarked the England star as a top summer target.

But Pulis can expect fierce competition for the ex-Fulham man as several other top-flight clubs monitor developments – including Leicester.
