Leicester were ‘back to their roots’ - Liverpool boss Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels Leicester City returned to their title-winning ways on Monday night.

The Foxes defeated the Reds 3-1 at the King Power Stadium in their first match since Claudio Ranieri parted ways with the reigning champions last week.

Jamie Vardy scored a brace and Danny Drinkwater a stuwing volley before Philippe Coutinho pulled one back for the visitors.

"It was 100 per cent clear what happened here tonight from the Leicester side, back to their roots, the line-up was clear," said Klopp.

"(Shinji) Okazaki back and all that stuff.

"It was clear how emotional the game will be because if Leicester doesn't show emotion tonight, that would have been really strange.

"In the end, it was not that intense but we were even not ready for this.

"We tried to be absolutely ready from the first second but obviously we tried not enough or with the wrong tools."
