Leicester striker Okazaki likely to miss Japan squad

Shinji Okazaki is in danger of missing Japan's squad for the World Cup.

The Leicester City forward is third on Japan's all-time goal scorers list and has earned 111 caps in his career.

But Japan boss Vahid Halilhodzic insists he needs a different type of striker in Russia.

"I'm looking for players who can score goals," Halilhodzic has told the Japanese media.

"Players with different qualities to Okazaki. Players who can score more goals. Players who can give me something different. I want to try other players.

"Okazaki plays a different role with Leicester to how we play in the national team."
