Leicester City striker David Nugent hailed their victory at Hull City as "massive".

Nugent, who played the pass to Riyad Mahrez in the build-up to the goal, said the players knew the importance of the fixture prior to the game.

"It is a massive win," he told the Leicester Mercury. "Hull are down there as well and, if they had won as well it would have been really tough for us. We have got ourselves back in the mix.

"It gives us hope and we are relieved we got the win. Everyone worked their socks off and, although it was backs to the wall at times, we got the win.

"It was vital we won the game because, if they won, they would have gone nine points ahead of us. We have pulled them back into the dogfight and if we can get a few more wins we can get out of the bottom three."
