Leicester striker Steve Howard has had to settle for more of a squad role this season with the 33-year-old making more substitute appearances than starts. He has failed to command a regular first-team place for the past two months but scored his 199th career league goal in the 2-1 win at Peterborough on Saturday.
Foxes assistant manager Steve Walsh said: "He is a good professional who knows it is a squad game these days. Everyone, apart from goalkeeper Chris Weale, has been left out at some stage of the season.
"He is leading the line really well and has chipped in with the goals. It was a good finish on Saturday and I'm delighted for him.
"Teams challenging for things do need to freshen things up and (manager) Nigel Pearson has always said it's not just about the first XI and players with the experience of Steve Howard are a great asset to have."
