Dietmar Hamann has stated that Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez would struggle if he made a move to Barcelona.

Mahrez played a crucial role in helping Leicester claim the Premier League title this season and the winger was recognised for his efforts with the PFA Player of the Year award.

As a result, Mahrez has been attracting the interest of the very best clubs around the world and giants Barcelona are said to be keen on recruiting the Algerian international.

However, former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder Hamann does not think that Mahrez making a move to the Nou Camp is a good idea and has stated that the talented attacker would struggle at the Nou Camp.

The ex-German international told Colin Murray on talkSPORT: "There seems to be interest from Barcelona for Mahrez, and if they offer £25million Leicester may well let him go.

"He might well win a Champions League title with Barcelona in the next three years but the question would be, how much of a part would he play?

"Mahrez is clearly a very talented player, but... I would be surprised if many, or any, of these Leicester players really set the world alight in European and international football.

"The way the team play, they are a collective. They play with each other, play for each other and benefit each other – that's their greatest asset. Leicester have talented players who know what they've good at, but more importantly know what they're NOT good at.

"Everybody knows their role. You never see one of their defenders try something fancy, and when the guys at the front get the ball, they do their stuff. They're just a well-functioning team and everything just fell into place for them this season. I don't think we'd see any of their players being regulars for clubs like Real Madrid or Barcelona."
